MEADOW MANAGEMENT

Meadow clearance is carried out to copy the cutting of grass, with wild flowers in it, that was used for hundreds of years to provide hay for farm animals during the winter. This continual removal of vegetation from the area with no fertilizer being put on the ground leads to the poor soil that the meadow plants require and the reduction in strong grasses and other plants. The cutting of the meadow every year also prevents the growth of shrubs and trees that would quickly swamp and overshadow the fine grasses and wild flowers.
