Millisons Wood, Meriden

A Local Nature Reserve. We have had a coppicing regime in place for over 20 years and have made several clearings to increase the number and variety of wildflowers and butterflies. We have also built a number of paths with sleeper bridges and a stile.

Brueton Park, Solihull

A Local Nature Reserve. We have carried out step and path construction in a woodland area as well as boardwalk construction in a wetland area. We have created habitats including building an artificial otter holt. Other work has included hedgelaying, scrub management and coppicing in an overgrown wooded area.

Bills Wood, Shirley

A Local Nature Reserve. We have removed selected trees – mainly invasive species and planted native trees to replace them. We have built and maintained paths and carried out repairs to fencing and sleeper bridges.

Lavender Hall Park, Balsall Common

A Local Nature Reserve. This is a new park where we have relaid an over-mature hedge, carried out step and stile construction to improve access, cleared brambles, thinned out a new stand of native trees and carried out meadow cutting and pond work.

Dorridge Park Wood

A Local Nature Reserve. We have removed dead and dying conifers and invasive species and planted native trees. We have constructed fencing, stiles and sleeper bridges and carried out pond improvement work.

Yorks Wood, Kingshurst

A Local Nature Reserve. We have carried out coppicing and bramble clearance as well as rubbish removal and pond clearance to improve the woodland and increase the population of wildflowers.

Jobs Close in Knowle Park

A Local Nature Reserve. We have carried out meadow cutting and path work and scrub clearance to improve the area and create flower rich meadow land.

Cole Bank, Chelmsley Wood

A Local Nature Reserve. We have carried out coppicing, selective tree removal and willow scrub management in an overgrown wetland area. We have also built an artificial otter holt.

Hillfield Park

A Local Nature Reserve. We have cleared areas on top of an earth bank improving the area for wildlife and to increase the variety of plants including various orchid species that are growing there. We have also made improvements to paths and added steps to improve access.

Packhorse Bridge, Hampton in Arden

We have carried out meadow cutting regularly on this area which is next to the river Bltyh. We have cleared paths, carried out selective tree removal and performed willow scrub management. A large amount of invasive Himalayan Balsam has been cleared from this site.

Elmdon Coppice

A Local Nature Reserve. We have been removing the rhododendron from this area for over 15 years and have nearly eradicated it from the whole wood. We have also carried out path work and some marginal planting around the pond.

Elmdon Park

We have carried out selective thinning of an area of native trees planted some years ago to remove dead, diseased and damaged trees and removed bramble and other ground smothering plants to provide room for other trees to grow. We are also carrying out some coppicing to increase the diversity of the age range of the trees.
